Good morning, blog readers! Something came up this morning, and I needed to be up for a friend, so now I’m awake and ready to start the day! 🙂 What better way to start it than with a fabulous post from yours truly!! Y’all are very welcome! 🙂
This last week has been crazy. I finished my job at the Hilton, had an almost perfect banquet and started at GTM. At GTM, my supervisor was gone the first couple days, and then we found out we’re being bought out by Hanes. All while trying to keep up with my workouts, meals and homework. Might I say I did a fabulous job! And I’m so humble about it!
I’m not going to lie, I was kind of nervous about how I was going to balance everything. Time management is always something I’ve been good at when I need to be, but a fulltime job and fulltime school is a lot for someone to take on – especially someone with anxiety and prone to stressing out too much. It took a couple of days, but I think I found a routine that works for me! I decided I’d rather work my ass off during the week, so when the weekend comes, I don’t have much homework and can just relax and clean/run errands/whatever else I need to do. At this point almost every minute of my day is planned out and accounted for, but it’s keeping me on task. I’m doing really well in my classes. I’m sticking to my meals. (working in an office makes that easy because I can eat whenever. I’m pretty much eating all day long, but little snacks. With Insanity, I have to eat so much to keep up with the workouts!) I’m drinking so much more water than normal. Another perk of a desk job. I’m onto the second month of Insanity, which is just a tad bit more insane. (See what I did there?) I’m picking up on everything at work pretty quickly, so I’d say things are going well!
While I have my strict schedule, I also have a little wiggle room. Wednesday night I went out to dinner with friends, so I didn’t work on much homework or get my workout in, but that’s ok. I’d trade time with friends over working out and homework any day!!
This last weekend we had the mission trip banquet at church. I was laughing with my mom because when we get an idea we run wild with it, and pretty soon it’s a monumental project. I went to Pinterest to get some inspiration and spent who know how many hours on the phone with my mom trying to work things out. I’ve not had many events go as smoothly as this one did! It was partly due to planning, but also the kids just rocked it! They got all the food out in like 20 mins and the whole room torn down and cleaned up in 45! I had so many people tell me that events is where I should be. I love events, don’t get me wrong! I love having the ideas and making it happen. I always joke about how I’m the one you come to to make things happen because I do! One way or another I will figure it out! The thing is while I do love them, I also get burned out, which I noticed when I was doing the internship last year. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need events in my life, but part time on the side. Because I am good at it, and I love doing it! So it’d be stupid to let a passion fall under the rug, but I still don’t want it to be fulltime for me. In the meantime, the wheels are turning for next year’s banquet 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I still don’t know what I want to do with my life, but I’m enjoying business so far. I’m toying with the idea of marketing or human resources. Moral of the story, I don’t know. I’ll figure it out as I go along!
I don’t think I really have anything else to say. Things have been going well, and I’ve been busy, but there hasn’t been a lot of exciting things happening. So until next time….
